Dorothy Blondin (Art)
Artist Statement: "Since discovering the old and wonderful medium of "Collage" as a transition into abstract composition, this artist plans to further experiment with collage as a fine art form. Creative, challenging and Fun!!
Dorothy Blondin studied Design and Fashion at the Art Institute of Chicago. She later pursued studies in Commercial Art, Business and Law. She studied Architectural Drawing and Rendering with James E. Rhines, an architect in Chicago as well as James A Jerric, an illustrator in Chicago. She also studied at the School of Professional Art in Florida. Much of her career has been in the field of sales, marketing and merchandising.
Since moving to Florida, Dorothy has continued to participate in study workshops, studio groups, and business seminars. She is a freelance artist who is also very active in the art community. She served as chairman of Visual Arts for the Women's Committee of Fine Art, which as an organization has a commitment towards funding, judging, and presenting Art college scholarships to local high school students.
Dorothy is a versatile artist who has had exhibits throughout Central Florida. Her award winning artwork is in both private and public collections throughout the United States. She has been a recipient of the LSCC Presiden'ts Show Purchas Award. She has also been selected as the poster designer for the Mount Dora Music and Literature Festival.
